Every Man Is An Island

I stand by that. But clearly some men are island chains. Underneath, they are connected...

It's that time of the month. No no, I'm not a chick with you know what. It's the time during March Madness where all those who are doing well in their respective pools get to talk trash to those that are sucking it up. At my work pool, I'm the designated statistician. How did I become designated you ask? The guy that usually does it just recently resigned. And the scene is set... I'm working on the computer on some stupid document that was supposed to be finished like a week ago, and my boss comes in and says, " You've been voted to take over to run the NCAA tournament pool." I'm like ok, I guess if everybody else voted me in. So I ask around a bit, and nobody even knew anything. And there I felt all warm and tingly inside about being nominated, when in fact it was just my boss giving me some more crap to do. Damn it all. Crap, where was I. Anyway, I come in Saturday to do the scores for the first round. My co-worker, Dilcia, comes running up yelling, "I got 29, I got 29, I got 29!" I'm not sure but I think she was jumping up and down and clapping her hands while doing this. So I'm adding up her score just to be sure, and all the while she's telling me she got 29. By that time I'm ready to tell her to shut the hell up. I wished real hard, but she still got 29. The history behind why I'm annoyed is that last year she won, and her dad did all her friggin picks. How stupid is that? You don't need to be a genius to pick 1 over 16 in the round of 64. So this year she had her dad do her picks again. Okay, back to the story. She got 29, and I'm right on her ass in 2nd with 28. Now here's the kicker, Today I'm in doing the stats again. And guess whose suckfaces lost in the round of 32? Gonzaga and Stanford. I knew they were over rated. Dilcia had Stanford over Gonzaga in the chip. HA HA HA HA HA. IN YOUR FACE!!!!! It's sooooooo over.

So she comes into play tonight, and I just laugh it up and rub it in as much as possible. It was great. But sadly, after the 2nd round, she still had the overall lead with 49, but I'm still right there with 48 (we do 1 pt, 2 pts, 3 pts, for each next round and so on.) But she can only get 25 more points whereas I can get 43. I'm in prime position to take over as numero uno. And the winner in our pool takes it all, yeah baby. But I don't really care that much if I don't win, as long as I get to watch Dilcia move her way down the rankings.

On a side note, one guy, Michael was in dead last with 33 pts after the two rounds. And sadly he could only get 13 more points, which means even if nobody else gets any more points and he gets all of his which I don't think could happen realistically, he couldn't even beat the top 3 people. I made a note of that on the updated standings print out. I'm sure everybody will get a nice laugh outta that one.
