It's Pretty It's So Pretty
So I've been hoopin it up a bunch lately trying to get ready for IM basketball. And I've just been thinking that man I've been hoopin at the Rec for a long friggin time. I'm like the old man up there now, but it's all good. It got me to thinking of all the good times and highlight reel plays I've been a part of. This one in particular comes to mind.
So Marky Mark and I have been playing together for what seems like an eternity. In all actuality it's only been like five years with about two years in the middle cut out. But whatever. We got this ESP thing going where we both know where the other is gone be. It's awesome. Things are just easy.
Well, it was this fall actually. We were running on the same team per usual. He gets the board or outlet pass, and I do my usual turn and run hard up the court. Mark threads a perfect pass between two guys to me at half court. It was a tad bit short so I had to turn around to catch as I'm running the other way down court. I don't know what it was, but I felt this presence. I remember that there was a deep guy, but somehow I felt him start to step up when the ball went short. From there it was just reaction. Instead of catching the ball, I tipped it back over my head towards the hoop over the on coming defender. I spun around without breaking stride and kept running knowing that the ball would simply fall into my lap. It did. One dribble later I had a completely wide open lay up. Man, I felt like Randy Moss when he tipped that ball to himself against Tampa Bay his rookie year for a TD. It was amazing. Mark and I basically turned a 1-on-3 into a uncontested lay up.
I can't wait until Monday at 8:00 pm. The Strange Brews are gonna tear it up.
