I've found that my answer is to appreciate the small things. Instead of always looking onto the next deadline or chore, I find that it helps to pause for a moment and soak it up. Sometimes it can be just the most random things that make your day.
For me happiness is:
- figuring out where to get the free coffee and tea that my work offers
- getting into a car on a cold day that has been warmed by the sun
- finishing the 1 star sudoku in like a record time
- playing 4 square after basketball
- finding a random new clicky pen
- singing in my head when bored in class
- engaging in a good conversation whether it be silently on paper or even when completely hung over
- drinking a beer with dinner
- random drunk IMing
- making someone smile
- reminiscing about old drunken adventures
- finding my Kronborg bottle opener under the sofa cushions
- taking a long hot shower
- eating Chipotle
- being able to see without my glasses
- waking up to a sunny day
- wearing fun socks
- discovering a new good song
- eating Kathie's strawberry candies
- playing with kids
- being a kid
- watching kids improve
- writing in this blog
- wearing sweatpants or pjs
- eating my mom's dumplings
- being on time
